I LIKE PICKING PEOPLE’S BRAINS AND ASKING QUESTIONS THAT ARE HELPFUL NOT ONLY TO ME BUT OTHERS AS WELL.
THIS WEEK IS Alexandria Williams who’s over Alexandria Says, was on the The Goldbox Podcast, & truly good at what she does.
WITH THESE THREE QUESTIONS THEY’RE SIMPLE BUT DEEP.
THE PLAN IS TO DO THIS EVERY FRIDAY
1.) What is the best technical advice you can give someone starting out in marketing and public relations?
It might not sound sexy, but LISTEN in your college courses! In this world of "get there quick" or "skipping school" all together, I feel like the small number of people who are not supporters of higher education are telling more and more young people not to go to school which I find ridiculous. I find it common to see "marketing maven" or "content creator" in peoples bios on social media who have never interned or took a course in marketing. While I understand, that college isn't for everyone and experience is the best teacher ...There is no way you can do your job efficiently without the proper education whether that is in the class room or on the job. I could go on and on about this.....
2.) What things inspire your process?
Things that inspire my process is thinking outside of the box for new approaches and READING, READING, READING! Whether it is a book or magazine article, read. Also, do not be afraid to go against that norm. Just because it has always been done a certain way, does not mean that is the best approach.
3.) Who are three people you look up to or inspire you?
I don't "look up" to many people outside of parents because we are all human and fall short. However, there a lot of people who inspire me. Off the top of my head three people are Lena Waithe, Michelle Obama, Ellen DeGeneres . I admire all of these women for different reasons, but their fearlessness to be themselves with such grace and likability is flat-out amazing.
