I LIKE PICKING PEOPLE’S BRAINS AND ASKING QUESTIONS THAT ARE HELPFUL NOT ONLY TO ME BUT OTHERS AS WELL.
This week is Kariss Gordon the owner of The.BeautyofPR & all around good person.
WITH THESE THREE QUESTIONS THEY’RE SIMPLE BUT DEEP.
THE PLAN IS TO DO THIS EVERY FRIDAY
1) What is the best advice you can give to someone starting out?
The best advice I can give someone starting out is not pertained to only one thing. Starting out, it is essential to have a plan. "Proper planning prevents piss poor performance." These are words that I have digested over the years in the industry that have helped me stay on top of my game. Know what you are good at and what you are not. What you are not good at, learn or out source. From experiences, plans are essential in any business because they set goals. Without either, it’s hard to perform or measure success.
Also, I would advise someone starting out to understand the importance in controlling what “you can control and give the rest to God.” I say this because it’s dang near difficult to have a handle on everything and still function peacefully or sleep at night. This has helped me reduce stress, anxiety and depression.
2) What things inspire your process?
God has inspired my process. It’s truly a blessing to be a blessing. Within me, he gives me the strength and vision to fulfill my upmost potential. Because of him, the process has been beautiful and for sure worth while. Without my relationship with God, I would not be inspired or motivated to fulfill my passion. the process is not easy, but it is worth it. I thank the Lord for giving me the strength to live in my truth. That is why my company is called “The.Beauty of PR” because the process is what I am in love with the most; it’s the most beautiful to me.
3) Who are three people you look up to that inspired you?
My little sister Sidney is a beast! She’s 14 years old and is a perfectionist. Did I mention she is a scholar and star athlete? She does not accept failure at any level, so everything she touches turns to gold. Yes, she is as humble as they come and she’s not even 16 yet! I look up to her in so many ways and adopt her worth ethic.
Finesse Haverly, owner of Crazy Sexy Cool definitely inspires me to eat better and take care of my body. Health is wealth! She is a Lupus survivor, business owner, logistics guru and single mother. Her resilience is beyond motivating and I thank God for blessing me with her. She’s a freaking genius and a warrior hearted soldier in the army of the Lord. I am truly thankful for her. We push each other in many ways, especially as minority entrepreneurs.
Bill Belichick is genius. Winning super bowls is not an easy task. A team is a reflection of its coach and Bill’s leadership is one of great measure! I’ve learned in business, results are vital to investments, returning clients and success. I love how he studies his craft and industry down to the science and has places people in position to help win. Respect!
